Deep Center is expanding our ever-growing team with four new positions. These positions require individuals who understands social, economic, and cultural systems and how historical and contemporary structural injustices adversely affect some communities while benefiting others, the ability to think strategically at the systems level to identify and articulate equitable solutions, and an understanding of the U.S. South, and who understands the strategic importance of advancing parallel efforts that support and build visionary transformational justice movements.

Associate Director, Restorative Practices and Culture

Deep Center’s Associate Director of Restorative Practices and Culture is a 40 hour/week salaried position that reports directly to the Director of Restorative Practices and Culture. This position will assist in building and facilitating training, dialogue, and support structures for adults throughout Savannah’s ecosystem of youth-serving systems and institutions, such as Savannah-Chatham County Public School System and Chatham County Juvenile Court. The Associate Director functions as a facilitator, curriculum designer, coach, and champion for growth, healing, and transformation of systems by and through individuals. The work will primarily be with adults (like teachers and probation officers) but will also be informed by and in partnership with young people.

Coordinator, Action Research Team

The Action Research Team Coordinator uses arts-based and youth-centered practices to plan and facilitate or co-facilitate workshops, lessons, and events that engage youth in artistic expression, play, storytelling, and critical literacy to elaborate connections between youths’ lives, their communities, and the systems and structures that impact both. Crucially, the Coordinator helps youth envision how to bridge the gap between “what is” and “what could be” through a combination of legislative action, changes to institutional cultures, and community dialogues. Throughout these activities, the Coordinator helps youth develop specific skills or perspectives that increases their ability to affect systems change. The Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Restorative Practices and Culture but may also work with the Director of Communication and Development to center youth’s voices throughout Deep’s policy work.
