F. Carl Walton is Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Prior to going to Southern, he was Vice President for Student Affairs at Savannah State University (2014-2019) and at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania (2010-2014).  He holds the M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from Purdue University and a B.A. in Political Science from Morris Brown College.  In addition to his administrator appointments, he held faculty appointments at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania (tenured), Morris Brown College and the University of Georgia. 

 He was an American Political Science Association Congressional Fellow, a participant in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Millennial Leadership Institute, a Higher Education Leadership Foundation Fellow, and a Kettering Foundation Whisenton Public Scholar. He is a current Fellow with the HBCU Executive Leadership Institute. 

Walton is Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the DEEP Center of Savannah (non-profit organization that supports youth of Savannah through providing avenues for literary expression) and holds membership in NASPA (Student Affairs Administrations in Higher Education), NASAP (the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals and NCOBPS (the National Conference of Black Political Scientists).  He is also active in the Morris Brown College National Alumni Association as Chair of the College Relations Committee and the Election Committee. Walton is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity.
