Migration Stories: Deep Roots of the Collective

“Migration Stories: Deep Roots of the Collective” marks the culmination of a year-long process of research and creative production by youth and adult artists focused on the complex past and present history of Savannah. The showcase will feature dance, music, and other genres of performance, as well as creative writing, and visual art by muralist José Ray, co-created with youth and inspired by research and personal, family, and community histories. The array of work represented explores migration across contexts, including geography, mental and emotional, and cultural. These stories reveal what it means to grow up in Savannah as a young person, addressing and unearthing injustices and envisioning a future full of community healing and transformation.
