We had a fantastic time at the Live Oak Public Libraries' Savannah Children's Book Festival last Saturday, November 19th. We met so many fantastic people, spread the word about Deep and our programs, and wrote some amazing stories with Savannah's youth. Each child that stopped by our table helped us write our stories by adding another sentence to the tale—even a few parents helped out! We wanted to share these group stories with you. We hope you enjoy them!

Prince Joe and Princess Tiea

    Once upon a time… there was a boy who lived in a castle. His name was Joe. He was mean. He eats a lot. He has no friends. It always feels like he's better than everyone in the world. So he took over the world.

    He met a person who was nice. They had a hug. It was Princess Tiea! After they had hugged, a dragon came. Then it ate Joe. Wow!

    Princess Tiea soon tried to go after Joe. She went after him and got lost in the dessert, so Princess Tiea ate Menchie's Frozen Yogurt. She will go look for Joe.

    Tiea finds the dragon. She tells him to put Joe down. The dragon bites Joe. They get into a fight. Joe's hair gets on fire. Tiea wins because she had a knife, and she slayed the dragon. Prince Joe is okay.

Josh Bruckhimer and the Great Chimp Space Caper

    Once upon a time… there was an astronaut named… Josh Bruckhimer! He was a chimp. He went beyond Jupiter and passed time. It took him long time. He saw a black hole. Away he went!

    He found a new world! And he went to it! (It was named Bearsh.) And he found more monkeys, which were his long lost cousins. Then he goes crazy and runs towards them and starts hugging them.

    "I'm happy to see you!"

    "Too bad you're a traitorous, yellow belly! BANG!! Now you're dead!" And it kills him, the end.

    But he's actually live! And now he vows to find out the reason why his long lost cousins believe he is a traitor…

    He took some bananas from them! He tries to get more bananas. He gets in his spaceship and flies away. The spaceship crashes on Saturn. He's there forever. The End!

The Underwater Mermaid and Shark Wars

    Once upon a time… there was a deep sea explorer named Olivia. She looked like a mermaid. She was really nice. She was fun and funny.

    She ran into a shark! Then the shark chased her. Then she swims away. Then she hides behind a coral reef. She swims out into the open water. She starts to fight the shark with her tail.

    "I will eat her," the shark said.

    "I will swim away because I already won the fight," Olivia said. Olivia goes and gets her war people and has a war!

    When the sharks saw the Army, they got scared and ran away. But the sharks actually went and got weapons! They fighted again.

   The mermaids win because they have a big palace and better weapons.

Jakobe, LeJon, and the Sleeping Elephant

    Once upon a time… there were two boys who were named Jakobe and LeJon. They're at the playground when all of a sudden… one of the boys, Jakobe, got lost. LeJon called everyone.

    He looked in a tunnel. He found a huge elephant snoring like a steam train. He asked the sleeping elephant if he knew where his friend was. The elephant was angry.

    The elephant lifted his left foot, and then when he put it down, he quickly lifted the other. Everyone heard a joyous stomp. And he had a new idea. He decided to blow his trunk and get everyone's attention.

     "I'll wake everybody up and we might find your friend and I'll wake him." Then the elephant found Jakobe and they they went and played in Forsyth Park. They played the hokie pokie!

The Nuwooan Disaster

    Once upon a time… the planet Nuwoo was under attack! The aliens had lasers. They came at night. They attacked the people.

    The ships ran out of power. Then the spaceships crashed. The aliens got out of their spaceships and asked for directions.

     Another alien comes and leads them on the wrong path. So they started building a ship of their own in the color pink.

    And they saw another ship and took it to go home. The end.

April and her friend Mulan

    Once upon a time… a girl grew wings! So she flew to Disney World. She met Mulan.

    Mulan said, "You look weird."

    The girl said, "My name is April."

    "That's crazy," said Mulan.

    "If that's crazy, my dog's name is Snoopy, and he wears glasses," said April.

    "Is Snoopy near or far-sighted?" Mulan inquired.

    "I love my mommy and daddy," April said.
