Deep Center is hiring a Teaching Artist to support Savannah’s young people (middle school and high school-aged) in researching, writing about, and celebrating the stories of Savannah to map the people, stories and resources that make this community vibrant.

We seek a reliable, innovative individual with passion for creative and the written word, and dedication to Savannah’s people, places, and stories. The Teaching Artist will masterfully employ the sensitivity, awareness, and fearlessness needed to guide youth as they explore their communities.

As a member of the programs team, the Teaching Artist will engage Savannah’s young people as courageous young artists and leaders, supporting the growth of an organization that places high value on social justice, equity, innovation, creativity, strategic action, and programmatic excellence. The Teaching Artist will plan and lead workshops, facilitate community dialogue, and engage in one-on-one mentorship with students.

This position requires an individual who is committed to racial, gender, economic, and social justice and is willing to be an active participant in an open and democratic work culture. The ability to support a team and its individual members while remaining a reliable, driven leader is a must.
